Hello, my name is Lorraine. I am new to Kean University Master’s Program. I am looking forward to a great learning experience while achieving my goals. So far, I am enjoying my classes. I have great Professors, who are very helpful. It took me a long time to come back to pursue my dreams, but I finally made it.

I am a very determined person. Once I set my mind to doing something, I do it. Just like the Nike sneaker ad says, “Just Do It” lol.

I have quite a few hobbies. I like to bake, dance, and create projects. I started my own baking business. It’s called Splenda’s Sweet Shop. I bake goodies for the holidays. I am known as “The Cake pop Lady”. I was given that name from one of my customers. To this day, if I run into her, that’s the first thing she yells! “Hey Cake Pop Lady”!

I used to teach Science. I loved teaching that course. One particular year while teaching, I was asked to take over an ELA writing class. At first I was upset because my background was Science. Once I started teaching ELA, I fell in love with writing. Ever since then, I have wanted to pursue writing. I had plans to go back to school to get my Masters Degree, but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with it. After teaching ELA for three years, it kind of directed me towards English Writing Studies. That’s why I enrolled in Kean. I’m glad I did.
