Anyways. I thought there was three readings but I only see two.
First up is “Illustrated Field Guide to Keeping a Visual Diary and Cultivating a Capacity for Creative Observation”

I didn’t even read anything, I saw the little thing on the side and thought it was so interesting. I saw you can click it and so I did

It is an actual book to buy? Apparently this person has a lot of books in this style. I thought it was just a fun whimsy “I draw on the side guys!” lil thing. Not an actual book. I am sad now. I thought it was so cutesy and fun to be showing off how she draws but nooo it is a real book not a fun side project. Money grab.

Okay it took a bit cause apparently “Max writes letters” is a book but I found what I was reminded of.

Though, to be honest, there are tooons of books for kids written in a letter format. Tons. Letter format or a “heres some words and texts”. But guys, the way it was such a bad photo I thought it was her personal book. Not a buying book. An actual journal she doodled in. I thought it was so cool. I could see Adamari, Hunter, and Zach all doing something like this. The way it is a buying book saddens me cause it is also so hard to read. Maybe it is the bad photos. Bad marketing. But oh how I wish it was just a fun and whimsy journal
Also it is a bit creepy. I love it, love the little freak on the left. I laugh at the creepy, it is so fun. But when thinking this is a scholar… some therapy may be needed. idk. But the demon on the cover might need a sign of something.
Hey, like I said I love the freaks, but on the cover is a tiny bit concerning. It is fun to see the dark compared to the light. Like the little space guy is fun. What a cover. Truly inviting cause will I see more of your demons? How fun! If not, why tempt me. How dare you but a lil freak on the cover and not have more demons inside. Rude.

SPOILERS FOR LIFE IS STRANGE (It is a video game, spoilers for the first one and most recent two so skip the photos and the little bit after. After I say “Okay back to the reading” you are good)

How fun and whimsy (Kidding, this was a shock to see the first time around).

Especially when most of the time it is so pretty

Do I journal? No. Do I know a lot of media that shows journaling? Yes. Have I read some of those many letter/journal style books I mentioned? Yes I enjoy them.
But this is what I am expecting, the dark stuff mixed in with the pretty.

The journal I showed is from Life is Strange. Main character Max been through some stuff. She is (SOMEHOW) also a professor in the game! Teaches a photography class. You read the journal, she talks about it

And then it randomly jumps to that page where young her is on the floor. Like I said it was a trip cause I am reading like “oh okay, so fun you teach now… okay and you might be traumatizing the students?? okaaaay…”
And then that one with all the crazy scribbles is from the most recent game where she gets into more crazy stuff. Such is Max’s life. To make a game we apparently have this character be in hell, but that is why the journal FREAKS OUT, cause Max is as well. Having to deal with more horrible things happen to her.
Quite the game, as at this point you not only have played through her traumas, understanding them and her, but also don’t want to watch her go through bad stuff AGAIN. But you do for the love of the game! If the journal ain’t like that, with the lil freak on the front, I am so disappointed. Cause seeing a journal get crazy at parts really is so fun and interesting. Signs someone is going through it and needs to figure out how to move forward. You see it in media all the time, the one who journals, if their journal gets crazy something going DOWN. And you best be prepared cause it sure will get CRAZY. If I ever find a journal in real life that goes from fun and whimsy to dark, twisted, frantic writing. I know something went down bad. Horrible that it happened to the person, but really interesting to see. People work in such interesting ways. You can see what someone is going through in their mind when they journal, and that is so magical. The power of journaling. Power of writing too, that you can tell when someone goes through it by the writing changing.

Okay back to the reading.

I can talk about that forever. But here I go reading the readings and getting confused. Cause what does that even mean. How is that a benefit of drawing, seeing something for the first time? Zach and Adamari, as the people I know in the class that can draw, you guys best explain cause I am lost. Do you see your drawing for the first time? I always thought of drawing as having a new perspective on something. I wouldn’t say you see it for the first time. And idk what “spend your life without ever seeing anything” means either. Unless you are blind, you do be seeing. So. Are we getting deep with “seeing”? I would argue this is more for photos. You don’t really see until you try to capture life in the camera. But drawing? If I do a lil demon, that is seeing? I say no. Drawing you can do whatever, it can be fake. You can draw a line. That to me, is not seeing life. But trying to capture the right moment with a camera is. And like an actual moment. Not having people pose for the camera. When life is lifing, grabbing a photo, and seeing life.

I say Ugly Dog is better, way better and cleaner than the mess I saw in the journal (so hard to read but I may be blind who knows). I don’t really know art so maybe this person is the greatest. Maybe I just be a hater.

Art exists for fun and whismy I do not need to study the phases of the creative process to understand why we have art. Cause people make it. To express. To have joy in life. Like. Come on now. We always had art. It is fun, expressive, communicative, joyous.

I have a neighbor that packes everything he possibly can onto his lawn each holiday and it always looks like a hot mess. As a yapper, it is okay to shush. Power in the silence, in the space. Like I can’t even look at the pages for too long there is so much happening
I would get lost in the syllabus. I already be getting lost, not knowing where to look for some things. And you throw everything you can into one page? Where am I to look. Where do I find the important words.
Truly way too much happening. For a class I don’t really know if it is good to throw everything on a page like this.
And it answers nothing too cause do I send the application on Tumblr? What the heck?? Weird. That is weird I am not sending anything through Tumblr.

I am a big hater of how this is formatted. Maybe if it was on better paper I would have an easier time. Cause the yellow with lines is adding to the way too much going on. Words are tiny, words everywhere in no pattern really. Bring back the Life is Strange journals. That had art and words in a way I wasn’t overwhlemed and could READ

Anyway, I feel like if it had instructions on one page and then drawings to help the instructions on the next page it’ll be better. It is just too packed for me.

Is it assisting if it does the thing for me? No. It ain’t.
It is like ordering DoorDash and saying you cooked dinner. No you didn’t. You got dinner, sure, but you didn’t do the work. It ain’t no tool, it is a whole seperate thing. Idk what it is exactly besides evil, but I would not say tool.

I know we don’t really make anything new, we remix just like it does, but what we do still has our voice. So while AI might be producing things well enough for a grade, if it was graded on grammar/structure that makes sense. But newish ideas with a person’s voice, I bet it fails.

How do you use it for math? Is it not just looking up the answers. Can’t you look up one of those learning things and see how to get the answer.

“Additionally, we utilised ChatGPT to automate the assessment of task performance.” Bruh. Why. You are studying how poorly it impacts students and you think it is a good idea to use it to help out with the study. I can’t.

I mean I knew all this with AI class. Little repeat on how bad AI is, think we all been knowing it does more harm than good. No important struggle that helps you think as it just gives the answers. AI is just a short cut that doesn’t help you learn or grow, just feeds you answers.

I feel like everything is important and even the lower level of anything is super important to know. If you don’t practice, you won’t know how to do it, and it can be quite the issue later on to forget how to do the simple stuff. Everything is important to know how to do, and everything is worth doing. There is benefit to the hard complicated stuff.

This was also in AI class, how important the human connection is. In teaching, of course it is so important. You add your own energy to the class and can really help the students by answering their questions in your own way. I feel like the AI won’t ever have that connection, and will never help the students in the way a teacher can.
For dnd, the automatic dungeon master (dm) was also not seen as exciting as when I dmed, even though it was my first ever time dming. So. No. This is a terrible idea.

The more I read the worse this gets. Like all this stuff is sooo bad hello? So it doesn’t even help with research as it is wrong.

Didn’t it say earlier it makes stuff up? I feel like trusting this in any way to teach you is a very bad idea if it gets stuff wrong and is influenced by trends.

Proving that while AI might be able to produce a lot more, it isn’t good quality. It is the same junk no matter who asks. It won’t be able to do what we do. Like we all get the same prompt for things but it is always different. For this, using AI will make it all the same.

Not very good. Do the long stuff yourself to truly see what’s what.

Basically none of the study was done by humans. Every step had AI somewhere. Crazy.

I doubt that it was very accurate. Some people might have said they barely used it but used it a lot. There is also no way to know if they are all judging themselves the same. Many issues with this.

Yeah again, the AI was doing the work so the people were not creative. I feel like this whole thing wasn’t all that fair of a study.

Ruined writing for some groups cause AI sucks big time.

No duh it ruins creativity for people. This is why I feel like the whole “oh it is so helpful with being creative” is a scam cause is it? Is it really? Don’t seem like it. Creative stuff is supposed to be FUN. Your ideas. Your fun and whimsy. Your enjoyment. I don’t think it is possible to help with creative stuff. It is doing the thinking for you which is bad, fixing the grammar which may also be bad as it edits your voice, and takes the joy out of it. Bad in every way.

Ethics makes sense. Good on people having issues with using AI. It sucks, makes you feel like your peers aren’t doing the work, it literally makes stuff up so there is a valid concern on being given wrong info, and so on.

Okay not only have I kept repeating my hate this short paper keeps repeating the same trashy idea on things. I know I yap but I do try to say new things and not repeat the same ideas over and over (though, for this, I think yall got the point I am a big hater a loooong while ago).

Yall this paper gave me such a headache. I should not have hated on the other thing so much. It was ugly, why we using yellow paper to journal. Nasty. But, better than whatever this paper was. Not only was the idea of AI bad, it just kept saying the same bad idea on how “helpful” AI was over and over.

Gosh I miss who I was back with the journal. I miss that journey of journals I took you all on. I could yap about the Life is Strange journals forever and the crazed writing idea.
